  1. As far as Ned Yost as the new manager....yikes his record is sub .500 with Milwaukee. How about bringing back Whitey Herzog as Manager/GM dual role and bring back speed, high-average hitting players for the large confines of Kaufmann Stadium. Ned Yost, yikes.

  2. Great podcast, Nick...I thought about Clint Hurdle as a possibility, but I think he's better at bringing a well-built team to where they need to be, and I think you are correct that there are some 'building issues' here, therefore he might not work out well. The more I look at Willie Randolph, the more I think he could be our guy. I'm not a Mets fan, but I think his dismissal was a bit lopsided, and I think his background fits the Royals' needs at a high level...and he also fits your ideal profile.

I think you hit it when you said Trey thought he knew everything, but I take it one step beyond that, I think he thought he knew *better* which is sometimes worse because when good advice comes your way, it's dismissed and there are witnesses. You can almost assume that Trey's career in NPB was spent making decisions, and always having the front office shoot them down...that's how some Japanese clubs are. Here, he had a free reign and let it whoop him almost from the start.

You still seem to be on the fence about the firing, you support and applaud the decision (I think most of us do), but then you almost defend Hillman as a victim of poor leadership by Dayton Moore in sending him 'bad players' to work with. I kinda disagree, I think the Royals have some great talent and maybe Moore could do better in his role, it's not all his fault. I think it's fair to say that Hillman worked himself into this - from a fairness perspective, his ultimatum certainly came at the beginning of the year. I think you've got enough right to really assess Hillman for his performance rather than agree with the move then criticize Moore right afterwards!

Kauffman is 'holy ground,' Hillman seemed like a good move at the time but that was then, this is now. The Baseball Gods have spoken, the Royals deserve better leadership in the trenches!!
